Exploring Mt. Baker Ski Area

Mt. Baker Ski Area

As much as we all love the Pacific Northwest, the winter months can be tough without a recreational outlet. A day in the snow is the perfect cure to break up the rainy months while spending time outdoors. Famous for its world-record snowfall, endless powder days, and accessible backcountry; the Mt. Baker Ski Area has a variety of terrain for the avid skier/snowboarder and offers an affordable day of skiing or sledding for the whole family. Being family-owned and operated for over 50 years, this place will make you feel right at home.  The Heather Meadows Lodge at the top of the mountain has rentals and lessons for every ability level. Don’t miss out on the rental/lesson/lift ticket package deal for only $89! For parents with young children, their Powder Pups program is also excellent. For those not interested in skiing, there is sledding and snowshoeing nearby. The White Salmon Day Lodge at the base of the mountain provides rentals and stunning views of Mt. Skuksan. On a nice day, this spot is unmatched for enjoying a refreshing beer while listening to live music and taking in the scenery.

When visiting the Mt. Baker Ski Area, don’t forget to explore the town of Glacier about 30 minutes away. Snag some organic breakfast goodies at the Wake ‘N Bakery or gourmet wood-fired pizza at Chair 9. There’s something you love about the quaintness of this town. Much like the ski area, it has kept its originality and authenticity over the years.
