Getting to Know Fidalgo Island: Neighborhood Spotlight (Old Town)

The oldest neighborhood in Anacortes, Old Town and Cap Sante boast a variety of charming craftsman style houses putting you amongst the history and culture of the city. Old Town provides great waterfront properties with views of the Guemes Channel, while Cap Sante gives you panoramic vista views of the city and Fidalgo Bay. Many homes have detached garages and zoning allowances plays favorably for individuals wanting an ADU for a family member or as a rental. Located within the historic Old Town are Causland Park, the Anacortes Community Theatre, the city library and museum, as well as several century old churches. Bordered by downtown and the Guemes Channel, you are just blocks away from the water and lots of dining options. Walk or bike to Cap Sante Marina or the The Depot where the weekly farmers market is held. This is great spot on the island to live if you are looking to be close to the thriving Anacortes arts scene, including the many wine walks and festivals that are held downtown each year.

Insider info: This neighborhood can sometimes have added congestion and limited parking from festivals or any downtown activity. The homes in this neighborhood tend to be older and not updated. There is also noise and traffic from industry down at the port on the weekdays.
